James in £50m bid to rescue MG Rover

TROUBLESHOOTER David James, who was credited with rescuing the Millennium Dome, was last night locked in talks which could result in him launching a joint £50 million bid for stricken car company MG Rover. James is understood to have been holding discussions over the weekend with the Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation in an attempt to trump the favoured bid put together by Nanjing Automobile Corporation of China.
