I'm too poor to buy an iPod

The dancer whose silhouette has sold millions of iPods worldwide still can’t afford to buy one of the digital music players herself, she has revealed. Mandy Coulton, 26, was paid $1,500 (€1,231) to pose for Apple’s successful ad campaign. But the model, who lives with her British husband in Los Angeles, cannot spare the cash for her own mini white gadget. Mandy was paid a flat fee for a three-hour audition in which she was snapped on Polaroids wearing the now famous striped bikini top and jeans. When she was told the image would be used and she would be appearing on billboards, she was given another $1,000, her publicist said today. “I would like one – but $400 for an iPod is too much for me at the moment,” Mandy told The New York Post. “I can’t justify spending that much money when I have day-to-day stuff to pay for like the car and rent.”Coulton dreams of being a full-time dancer but work is sporadic, forcing her to work part-time as a nanny to pay the bills. She met her husband, Chris, from Leeds, when they both worked on Royal Caribbean cruise ships. They tied the knot last year on Jekyll Island, Georgia before moving to California.
