James Bond

BURT Reynolds still regrets turning down the chance to play James Bond, 30 years after he was offered the role. Producer Albert R 'Cubby' Broccoli approached him about playing the spy when Sir Sean Connery quit in the 70's. Burt told US talkshow host Jay Leno: "Sean had said he wanted more money and left. "Cubby came to visit me and said, 'We want you to play James Bond,' and I said, in my infinite wisdom, 'An American can't play James Bond. It just can't be done'. "Now, in the middle of the night, you hear me wake up in this cold sweat going, 'Bond, James Bond'," Burt added. ...via

SIR Sean Connery has said he may never make another film, blaming "idiot" movie moguls for his decision. The veteran actor said: "I'm fed up with the idiots - the ever-widening gap between people who know how to make movies and the people who green-light the movies." He admitted he would not rule out another starring role - but said it would have to be "a mafia-style offer" to get him in front of a camera again. ...more
